It’s honestly insulting to suggest I’m a sap for putting in the work (you used images of my content) — encouraging people to testify, speak out, and engage face-to-face with the people elected to power. And that goes for everyone else online doing the heavy lifting to spread awareness. Most of us do it at personal cost — financial, social, or both.

But I’ve got thick skin. I’ve learned to expect cynicism.

Seven Democrats aren’t voting for this transportation trafficking bill — and I expect that number to grow. That’s happening because people are engaging. Even if they push it through anyway, what does it say that hundreds of people wrote in this session — many of them learning their rep’s name for the first time? They’ll be paying a lot more attention moving forward.

Still, from where I stand, the “nothing will ever change” crowd — which, unfortunately, you’re sounding like — is nearly as toxic as the Socialists themselves. You’re reinforcing apathy at a time when people are finally starting to wake up.

Even your article admits most people ignore what’s happening. That’s the real fight — not just policy, but public awareness. And the only way people do start paying attention is when they see others standing up. Speaking. Showing up.

I get it — it’s easier to sit back, sound clever, and act above it all. Maybe even toss in a line about walking uphill both ways in the snow. But taking jabs at the people doing the work — mostly unpaid, mostly thankless — isn’t edgy. It’s discouraging. And honestly? I find it stomach-turning.

This is Angela writing this message. I am sure that is obvious Richard.

Bring justice to housing by making all Oregon housing affordable, especially for the most vulnerable, pro-abortionists among us who can least afford property taxes and heat pumps.

I'm waiting for the lawsuit of the others who were uprooted and displaced by eminent domain. Do you think any attorney in town will take their case? 😏

I sure hope so... although attorneys who get out of line don't fare well in our elected courts.

Incisive piece of writing, Richard, but your fondness for “long-silent blogger Bojack” is misplaced. First, he’s over at Bluesky now where a couple of days ago he reposted a cat video. By, golly, he’s gonna show those damn Trumpers!

Second, if you check the dictionary, you’ll see that one definition of “weasel” is “a sneaky, treacherous person.” Jack Bogdanski didn’t invent the word weasel. Does it apply to developers? No more than it applies to some of Professor Bogdanski’s colleagues at Lewis & Clark College.

Delving into Bluesky is beyond my pay grade, since this column doesn't offer hazard pay.

A cat video. Wow. I guess we can rest assured someone like that really is, as Hunter S. Thompson liked to say, "serious people..." Now, I've been known to post animal videos but then I'm a look and not a politician...LOL...

I obviously took the wrong college business courses and got into the wrong side of the income tax scheme!
