I am Bracing myself. As usual the city stacked the commission with their progressive leftist agenda thinkers. Some google searches when it was announced confirmed it for me.
2 Portland committees seeking citizens. Maybe you could spread the word. We need some pragmatics on these.
1)
The Government Transition Advisory Committee (GTAC) will advise City Council, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), and City transition team on issues related to the development and implementation of the transition plan and community education and engagement plan related to the charter amendments approved by the voters in the November 2022 election. The GTAC is the main public engagement body for the transition.
Hate to tell you, Javier, but either the mayor or City Council mopes will make the final cut, no matter who applies.
By the way, I have FOI'd the city for copies of the mayor's picks of applications for the districting commission--it's being slow-walked and I'll have to spend over $100 for it. Paid, of course, before anything is delivered.
See, I think the politics of Portland have vastly changed when it comes to support for traditional ‘law & order’ in the past few years. I sense the overwhelming majority of Portlanders want laws enforced and violators prosecuted.
I understand your concerns but I think you would have more support than you realize. So many Portlanders are hoping for a change. Like Gonzalez your biggest support would come from east of 205.
No, but a weird quirk of Oregon law is that DAs have no residency requirement outside living in Oregon. For many years the (former) Jefferson County DA lived in Bend.

That's how things work in this town.
Zoom meeting? That’s crazy. Still afraid of COVID?
This sounds like the epitome of a royal woke clusterfuck.
What a mess. I have heard there may be 2-3 reasonable committee members lurking among the racial justice warriors. I hope this gets interesting.
This sound like the most un-democratic, and opaque possible method of governance possible.
I wish you would run against Schmidt. Have you ever considered that?
It's nice thought, but the politics of Portland would likely need to change...a lot!

Have you relocated to Multnomah County?
