Thanks, Larry. There was a brief story a couple of days ago in The O.

Notice how these thugs go about their business. They don’t appear to be worried about getting caught.

Last night the Portland Committee on Community-Engaged Policing met to discuss their efforts to get the Portland Police Bureau to apologize for what they consider an erroneous press release after the shooting at Normandale Park. PCCEP members don’t think police paid proper respect to how peaceful most Portland protesters are.

The mere mention of the name "Andy Ngo" freaks these people out. Time to send him another donation.

Loretta Smith was very recently - may still be for all I know - a registered Salem lobbyist for POIC.

Uncomfortable reality here - Portland’s Black community is about 6% of the population. Here are all the Black focused “non profits”. Seems like a lot. And I doubt this is a complete list, just what I threw together. How is this group “underserved”? This is a boatload of public $, plus corporate virtue signaling cash.

Then there are the private companies like Nike, which may end up getting hoisted on its own virtuous “values” with its constant emphasis on things that have nothing to do with sportswear.

In addition, Nike co-founder Phil Knight gave $400 million to Albina Vision Trust. Think of what he could have done with that money. He could have given that to me and Richard Cheverton. We could have bought The Oregonian and returned Portland to its former glory.

Talk about slippery slopes. For the life of me it appears Portland is on one that is getting steeper by the week. I wonder if anyone really knows or cares where the bottom is? I’m waiting for the cataclysm that will signal the end to the madness in Portland and the State of Oregon. History teaches us that’s the way these crazy things usually end, unfortunately.

Speaking of high walls of self-delusion, hands up if you believe the James Beard Public market [1] is going to go the way of the Frog Ferry [2, 3].

[1] "James Beard Public Market buys downtown Portland building, eyes 2025 partial opening." Jonathan Bach. OregonLive/The Oregonian. 17 January 2025.

Highlights:

"[P]roject officials also believe their market will create jobs and draw the kind of food tourism that can help shift the downtown economy into gear, . . . said [Executive Director Jessica Elkan.] Opening the James Beard Public Market will highlight Oregon as a 'culinary capital of the world,' "

"The lower level of the James Beard Public Market Building is expected to host cooking classes, dinners, events and chefs in residence. There’ll also be wine and cheese sellers, she said."

"Next floor up, on the street level, will be flower, produce and coffee vendors, as well as a cookbook store and food stalls. On the second floor will be grab-and-go foods, seating and a bar. The rooftop will have its own bar and garden beds. At the Selling Building next door, the group plans to have a butcher and fishmonger."

"A $23 million fundraiser is underway to pay for the renovation of the two buildings and to 'get this up and running,' Elkan said, adding that once the market is operational, it is expected to be financially self-sustaining."

"Food tourism"? Has Ms. Elkin been in the downtown Portland of the 2020s?

[2] "Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler ‘fully supports’ studying passenger ferry for Columbia, Willamette rivers." Andrew Theen. OregonLive/The Oregonian. 27 November 2018.

"But [Susan Bladholm, president and founder of the nonprofit Friends of Frog Ferry organization] . . . said after spending the past 18 months diving into the issue, she has no doubt a ferry makes sense between Portland and Vancouver."

" 'We can go ahead and play around with this for the next decade or the next 50 years,' she said, 'but when we do have the ability to pull this together rather quickly to provide a new transit mode for our locals, let’s do it, especially when we have so much private sector support backing us.' "

[3] "Frog Ferry put on indefinite pause, cites lack of funding and city support." Jayati Ramakrishnan. OregonLive/The Oregonian. 6 September 2022

"The backers of a proposed commuter ferry in Portland missed a key deadline to apply for federal funding this week, seemingly dealing a fatal blow to the project."

"Frog Ferry, a nonprofit pushing the effort to bring a passenger ferry to the Willamette River, said its proposal is effectively dead in the water because it’s out of cash and hasn’t won support from city leaders."

This was a head scratcher for me. I was wondering, did they set their sights on Portland in the early 2000, because you can't possibly think an establishment like this would survive in the landscape of current 2025 Portland 🤔? Granted I am not a current resident but I do try to stay on top of what's going on in Portland because I still have a place for this weird city in my heart. Sounds like an amazing facility! I just fear for it's failure based on politicians who are running the city into the ground and unable to actually get their 💩 together. I hope for the best, but.....well you know how the saying goes. 🙄
