If you've seen the video of him "hitting" the woman with his baton, it's a very brief broadside shove, not a true swing, like holding a broom handle with both hands and pushing someone away. He likely hit her head by mistake. The whole thing is ginned up woke BS, of course.

Yes, I saw the video. I also attended more than a half dozen riots (to observe, not to participate in). One thing the jurors don’t get: While they’re deliberating in a quiet, secure facility, the cops were surrounded by chaos.

Did you see The New York Times’ story on Portland that posted today? An excerpt:

“Protesters clashed with the police in the downtown streets from May through that fall, resulting in more than 1,000 arrests.

“Sgt. Jerry Cioeta, of the Portland Police Bureau, worked 71 days with only three days off during the unrest. His hearing was damaged after an explosive thrown by a protester hit him in the hip.”

Yes, many news outlets in chronic 2020 denial are debunking their own stories now!

I walked through the middle of the pre-riot crowds twice, outside the fenced off Justice Center. As long as you didn't talk to them, it was similar to stinking one's self up and mingling with TWD zombies. They were completely focused on the caged cops, whom I thought had a lot of guts just standing there. I was expected one to get shot by an ambusher any night, with all the BLM rhetoric and other things hurled at them.

Part of why this topic irritates me was an incident with an Antifa sentry who almost threatened my life while dogging me with his phone cam after I told him the movement was accomplishing nothing (initially a calm conversation about street closures, then he "turned" like a zombie when ideology came up). That masked thug kept claiming he was from a tough city in SoCal and "you don't -blank- with us." I think that city was a ruse, but he gave the impression of being capable of mayhem. He somewhat resembled one zealot who had to pay Portland $50k (D,A,K,), but that angle is hard to track. Any leads are welcome here.

The answer would be YES. We have lost our Commander Erica Hurley to Vancouver. Another officer I can't get in touch with by phone or email. East Precinct has ALL new command staff. So I would have to agree. They are purposely destroying the Portland Police. I hope the citizens left there are ready to deal with the breakdown of any signs of a civil society.

I have watched the Nextdoor App turn into a Leftist/Marxist indoctrination tool since it's inception. It is funny though, that many of the law-and-order hating neighbors that used to post on Nextdoor about how the police should be defunded and collected donations for protective gear for the rioters who attacked the police in 2020-2021 are now crying on Nextdoor about their cars being broken into and random people trespassing in their backyards and homeless camping and upset at the police because they won't respond.

Granted one would expect a thinking person to be able to put two and two together, but I do blame the media mostly for creating this. All of the local media have fanned the flames of the riots and destructive policies. For example, they almost got Ms. Antifa, Sarah Iannarone, elected mayor with their reporting, but then freaked out because many of them live in Portland, so most of them blasted their airwaves and webpages with truth, finally. But only to save themselves.

We are looking at that through the rear-view mirror, that ship has sailed. Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got till it's gone.

Pam: I cross posted this article to my subscribers (America First Re-Ignited) yesterday and received 789 views in the first 24 hours. If patterns hold, will likely have 200-300 more views the next few days. We lived in the Portland Metro Area from 1976 to 2020. I practiced law and noticed the Rule of Law starting to die 20 years ago. The 2020 riots merely put the nail in the coffin. We escaped December 2020 and now live part of the year on the Washington Coast and part of the year in the gorgeous Black Hills of South Dakota. Great article. Diane

Just think of what’s left after reasonable citizens eventually move out. It can’t really get better! The stupid vote these dopes in office and as good folks leave the voting pool becomes more polluted with ignorance and stupidity. Too many rotten apples in that barrel!

At what point does liability kick in? CFO’s and CEO’s are now criminally liable for poor accounting and financial reporting to prevent fraud with the passage of Sarbanes-Oxley after Enron, worldcom etc. Perhaps we need something akin to this if DA’s continue to pursue policies that result in death. Not immediately of course, but once it’s clear something isn’t working they have a legal duty to change policy or be criminally liable for putting citizens at risk. Just a thought of course, but clearly the system is broken if a DA can be bought and paid for to promote policies that de facto result in more death.

He hit a protester who was on the ground. Did anybody ask if the downed protester (pretending to be Media) was kicking him, grabbing his ankles, trying to trip him, throwing something at him, etc.?

Outrageous! These idiots in office have forgotten that the Bill of Rights is about RIGHTS, not feelings. And the criminals have forgotten that ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES. I'm thankful for many things, and one of them is that I don't live in Portland.

A free press exists--the only business specifically mentioned in the Constitution--to keep people such as George Soros from overwhelming open, honest debate and bamboozling naive Portland voters. It's a safe bet that every editor and most reporters knew what they would get when Soros's handpicked candidate got into office--and they kept mum. They know what a bunch of morons are exercising "oversight" over the police and they're silent. That Pam has belled the cat with her reporting in stories such as this one is an indictment of the local press. Indifference is just another way of lying.

This huge pile of cow manure masquerading as a DA is exactly why we gave up the dream house we built in West Linn & moved to a place where police's ONLY job is to protect law abiding residents from the criminals, REGARDLESS of politics. BTW, I practiced law from 1986 to 2020 and saw the Rule of Law starting to die 20 years ago, being replaced by the Rule of Man. The man, of course, being the Ruling Elite.

I appreciate your substack. Thank you for writing about Portland.

Mike Schmidt should be publicly "celebrated" every unconscionable crime (not just murder) in Multnomah County. Billboards that read "Congratulations Mike Schmidt! You Did It!" along with a brief of the crime.

Or every time a criminal is treated lightly by Schmidt, a billboard from the criminal "Thank you Mike Schmidt for letting me go free!" along with a brief of the crimes committed.

Schmidt rubber-stamped scores of Kate Brown’s grants of clemency for violent offenders, all in the name of “restorative justice.” Victims and their families were either ignored or kept uninformed. Let’s hope some industrious journalist or researcher itemizes each of the offenders and their post-prison conduct. Restorative justice means never having to acknowledge recidivism. In the meantime, go to voteforvasquez.com and contribute.

Yes, it has. The citizenry demanded its destruction and the citizens got what they wanted. Next question: Is Portland destroying its public schools? The citizenry demanded its destruction and the citizens got what they wanted.

Portland citizenry “got what they wanted” is not correct. Not everyone got what they knew was needed to restore the city. “You got what you voted for” mentality is not helpful.

Great article Pamela! Bravo.

Mike gets off on humiliating cops because he's a Cop Wanna-Be. That is the bottom line. He wishes he could BE a police officer, but his balls are too tiny. This is the purest form of mental masturbation for him. And coming from me, that video apology is NOT restorative justice. HELLO MIKE! Restorative justice is done in a controlled setting, behind closed doors, NO CAMERA'S.

Mikey boy does not know the first thing about Restorative Justice. Ask ME, I know what it is, or any number of other people. I completed two majors and two minors, one of which was a B of Science in Criminology and Criminal justice, as compared to Mike's degree in TEACHING social studies to teenagers. Laughable. Mikey Boy is laughable.

He's also disgusting. I'm not surprised he hated having to hug his sister, because clearly this guy does NOT like women. We all know that, he's proven it with his passive aggressive conduct while in the DA's office and creating a hostile work environment for Amber Kinney and all those other EIGHT women.

Also to the loser degenerate Eric, whoever he is, the guy who ENCOURAGED SUICIDE of a police officer, what a hypocrite and a toxic scummy loser. Go kill yourself, DUDE. Maybe that's what YOU should do.

Great article Pamela. Thank you for fighting the good fight!

Take a look at Nathan Vasquez

https://www.voteforvasquez.com/

From his campaign website:

"As District Attorney, my goal is to foster both safety and compassion in Multnomah County," Vasquez stated. "My policies will focus on supporting crime victims, revitalizing our neighborhoods, and addressing our drug issue with a firm, yet empathetic approach. I believe in the power of unity for community healing and for the betterment of our neighborhoods."
