Meanwhile, the MLB stadium's front man Craig Cheek (does he ever have a lot of it) has been in Salem softening up legislators in preparation for a mere $800 - $900 million ask on behalf a principal who's not willing to let anyone here know who he is just yet.

Don't worry. The bond obligation would be paid by a tax on the team's players and front office personnel. But look over here! The architects' renderings! They make the riverfront ballpark look as cool and with-it as the Rose Quarter did when it was still a gleam in Paul Allen's eye.

Mayor Wilson has thrown all his weight behind it. The Oregonian's sports bro Bill Oram is gung-ho too. His reasoning? "Does anyone really want to see a Major League Baseball team in Utah before there is one in Portland?" That makes two things Mr. Oram is in favor of. The other is letting males who think they're females crash women's sports.

I dislike percentages when it comes to trying to soften the blow of how many units out of 132 have sold at the RC. Does it mean 10 or 11? ( my math shows 10.56 units) Most be ghost towns with more residents out there.

Richard you need to purge those street photos. BES will soon be declaring that site wetlands and you will never see pavement with curbs and sidewalks.

If you want a few laughs, spend some time on Trip Advisor reading comments by guests who felt the Ritz Carlton didn't live up to its swank image. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g52024-d25546895-Reviews-The_Ritz_carlton_Portland-Portland_Oregon.html

More Portland real estate news:

“The duo got the Portland property for a steal at $750,000, a serious tumble in value from the previous sale price of $2.95 million in 2015.”

Did anyone see Roger Demuth’s opinion piece in the Oregonian? I feel like I could have written it.

Thanks for pointing it out. Definitely on the mark. Who's going to fix it? the writer asks.

There was a time when The Oregonian had clout and could show some leadership. Now they're part of the problem. As Richard Cheverton noted, The O's Shane Dixon Kavanaugh couldn't even connect the dots on the proposed layoffs and a city administrator who had been given three recent raises.

As reported briefly on Koin 6 Tuesday The Gov has introduced a bill and is feverishly pushing it to essentially override local land use/ building permitting regulations (more loss of local control ) to make it easier as Richard put it, to “cram in more cracker boxes” aka by progressives as “middle housing”. My condolences to Montavilla and other areas that are experiencing this and in the process losing their unique neighborhood identity. Gov T is also excluding current traffic studies in this bill for these builderamas which just further illustrates her lack of acknowledgement of the negative impacts that added density has on infrastructure/ livability. Ya I know, she’s convinced these people won’t have cars right? Now who is running a dictatorship…out of Salem?

BTW, sources say BPM Real Estate Group paid $7.76 million to the Portland Housing Bureau to avoid building affordable housing in the Ritz-Carlton condos.

The fee was supposed to help fund affordable housing development in the city. Don't know if it ever did that or was frittered away by the city on something else.
