I just read this article, I am Aaron's mom. This article is devastating to me, Pamela Fitzsimmons wrote to me saying she knew someone who could help me find my son, asked questions - then I never heard from her again. Now I know why. There is no reason to refer to Aaron in this article. In reference to this gun law, it wouldn't be because he doesn't care as this writer tries to infer, it would be because he has no awareness about it. I doubt seriously he's even tried to get a gun. I also want to make it clear even when unmedicated his beliefs were always that he was "helping" people, that was always his heart - to help. I'm sickened by this person writing as if Aaron knows about the law & is trying to break it. He is homeless, mentally ill and has a family who has tried contacting every office & hospital possible trying to find him. If you know where he is contact Oregon State Mental Institution, they have my contact information. It takes a vile person to take private information given to pass on to the person she said could help & then put it in an article without permission. Pamela you are heartless.

I doubt many criminals read this substack so I'll post this. There's a site called fieldseats.com, which reviews guns. You can purchase a review of a nice gun, not the gun itself. They enter you in a raffle where you could win the gun that is reviewed. If you win, you have it sent to an FFL of your choice and pick it up. Technically, you are not buying a gun but a review.

More info here:

Wonder if this is covered by M114, should one not be able to buy a gun the regular way, after the 30-day stay expires. Would be interested in a legal opinion on this.

For better and sometimes for worse, from the bottle bill to vote by mail, and beyond, Oregon has long been a public policy maverick. This new gun measure looks to bookend the recent street drug legalization measure in terms of its sheer ineffectuality as intended, yet awash in unintended, disastrous consequences.

As is her wont, Ms. Fitzsimmons employs a telling individual case to best illustrate current events in practical terms. This Aaron Ferguson’s transition occurred at the typical time for adult-onset mental illness. Did contemporaneous use of street drugs cause—or ensure—that the latent in him became patent, and irreversible? Look out.

The vast bulk of victim crimes are committed by the same cadre of committed recidivists, comprising a surprisingly small percentage of the total population. Measures like 110 and 114 only exacerbate the very problems they purport to address. Ordinary citizens will pay the price for letting the tail wag the dog once again.

Let us not forget that even a revolver is a semi automatic weapon. They want us to go back to muskets.... which if you think about it is ironic.

Thinking about the ten round magazine limit and self defense-- in truth I do not like this limit. It is one thing to deal with one attacker with a limited magazine. It is another scenario to deal with two or more attackers. Not like you are going to be agile enough nor the attackers patient enough for you to change out that magazine. Maybe I have been watching too much of "The Equalizer". I realize law enforcement is not held to this limit BUT some smaller agencies require purchase as an individual. This seems like a silly provision. If we enforced laws currently on the books we would be fine. We have become so lawless. So in the name of lawlessness I might as well join the band wagon. So tired of pretzel thinking by the woke minority out there.
