Since I wrote that, there has been another twist: Stephanie McCrea/Grayce has a new name: Stephanie Grayce-Escobar. I wish her luck in continuing on with a good life. She needs to understand there may be legitimate limits to what she can do. Taking to a public stage and trying to reimagine the criminal justice system is not in her best interests -- or ours.
Among the information passed out at the meeting was a handout stating, “Injuries from your past can affect how you think, feel or act today.”
The handout lists a series of questions adapted from the Ohio Brain Injury Program at Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center. If you look at these questions under “Step 1,” it’s hard to imagine someone who hasn’t had at least one these of these occur in their lifetime.
"TBI" sounds very serious, and it can be. Or it can be a total scam. Self-diagnosis does not work and even if someone does have head injury, there is no scientific research that absolves that person of moral or legal responsibility.
It sounds as though maybe someone who claims they are so altered by whatever happened should NOT be trusted with a license to practice law, or otherwise place peoples' lives in their hands!
I got a spanking when I was a kid--boy, it really hurt (which was the point of the exercise)--but now we know that it was child-abuse, which traumatized me and therefore sticking up that convenience store was actually not my fault. Case closed.
