You think the chronic fires (just one sample year is linked below) couldn't stress anyone who wonders "What will be left to burn in 5 or 10 years?" I'm over 50 and it concerns me greatly, since my persona focuses on evidence, not tribal blather.
The case of nearly-pristine Waldo Lake is worth studying. That's a rare place where you can't use a gas-engine boat for trashy personal convenience. Waldo was decimated at the north end by a 1996 fire, leaving a scar that's barely grown over (looks like lava in satellite views), then the 2022 Cedar Creek fire burned its western shores, and over that same north area.
These are unprecedented fire-sizes, not just "fires happen" or "more logging/thinning could have prevented" AGW desiccation. Some fools want all forests to become tree farms so they can pretend climate change has nothing to do with these fires, but that ruse wouldn't work. Fires have badly burned managed forests, since there's no way to remove all undergrowth or stop wind from spreading flames from crown to crown. Drier vegetation simply burns hotter and faster.

There is a mirror-image problem that the left and right share when it comes to Covid. The right may gladly die to "own the libs", that is dispute both the danger and reality of a novel virus. The left, on the other hand, will hobble society's most disease-resilient members with loneliness and social isolation because Covid is not merely dangerous to older people with comorbidities but by extension to everyone who may not be vulnerable as well. Because you can never be too safe!
I'm perfectly fine with Republicans culling their own herd in a fit of know-nothingism. I'm not as keen when it comes to neurotic moms sapping the spirit of their own children for the false idol of safetyism.
The last IPCC report was basically like, "eh, the warming isn't happening at the rate we thought it would but NOW we think it doesn't take as much warming to cause the same amount of destruction." Unfalsifiable theory?
Climate change. Jesus, this is the last thing P-town needs to worry about. How about all the psychos killing each other? How about the rampant crime?? Ugh.
