Evidently this sort of non-cooperation noted below is common in many cities. When first I read this the principal was named, twice. He seems to have been edited out now. I've included a link to what I assume to be a Seattle Lars Larsen guy:

Here he is, Baileykaze:

I hope San Francisco voters were listening when district attorney and Weather Underground scion Chesa Boudin said that recalling him would be a setback to criminal justice reform. In what Boudin probably thought was a warning, he actually said the quiet part out loud. It's that he, Multnomah County's own boyish heartthrob Mike Schmidt and the public defender who thankfully lost his bid to be Washington County's chief prosecutor are all dedicated to undermining the criminal justice system from the inside.

A prosecutor with an agenda of criminal justice reform isn't just an oxymoron. He or she (Seattle voters wisely ousted the bleeding-heart city prosecutor Nicole Thomas-Kennedy in November of last year) is a person who is not doing the job that the voters elected him or her to do. In the worst-case scenario (I'm talking to you, Mr. Schmidt) the prosecutor is substituting his own judgment for that of the legislature that enacted the criminal laws and the governor who signed them into law.

One of the worst things about a Che-sa Guevarra Boudin or a Mike Schmidt is that one never knows what sort of criminal-justice reform initiative they'll come up with next. Time and space constraints do not permit me to list all of the examples Schmidt has floated so far. Suffice it to say that he and others of his ilk are a cornucopia of bad ideas.

It is very difficult to believe that the voters who agreed with Boudin or Schmidt's reform platform had any idea what the implementation of their agenda would entail. Treating cold-blooded murderers like adolescents who knocked over mail boxes and deciding that neither should be judged for the worst thing they have ever done is just one example out of many changes that make us less safe and erode our trust in elected officials.

An easy way of establishing your moral superiority is to freely use mind-numbing jargon. You don't have to deploy logical continuity or even make sense. There are untold millions needing our "compassion", which can also help the taxpaying citizens understand that we're all in this together. Sadly, we don't have BA degrees in psychology or a BS in restorative justice, which is why we require the firm hand of professional finger-waggers.

I am a lifelong liberal Democrat beleaguered by the obvious fact of our social breakdown and political paralysis. What am I to do? First thing is to shut up and let the experts speak!

Abstractions can bewitch us with their sweeping certitude. Think of them as passkeys to a deeper reality. Kindness and smugness link arms and soon you're standing on the corners of 15th Ave and NE Broadway with signs commanding Justice Now! Who's really to blame here? White supremacists come to mind along with skeptics.

Religious hysteria doesn't require a church so much as a credo in which the faithful can banish all doubt. This partly explains why Portland looks the way it does. When you are convinced in your heart and soul that you are right, there are no pesky facts that can spoil your mood. Bear witness to "injustice"! The rest of us can grit our teeth and check Zillow for Beaverton housing prices.
